Earthbound

A comic sci-fi feature film recorded in Dublin, Rose plays Mrs. Reilly, the main character’s landlady.  Joe comes home to see lights under the door and bursts into the room, ray gun aimed at a shocked Mrs. Reilly who is blowing up balloons for his birthday.  “How did you know it was my birthday?” he asks as he disuades her from doing a bit of tidying.  “I saw it in your passport!”   The film is directed by Alan Brennan and produced by Rippleworld Productions.

Single Handed

A 6 part drama on RTE 1 Sunday nights at 9.30pm from 6 November, directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan and Charlie McCarthy and starring Owen McDonnell.  Rose plays a vital role as supportive neighbour to a man who’s wife has been found inside a burnt out warehouse building.  Set in stunning Connemara, this series will soon be broadcast on ITV.

ICA Boot Camp

Independent Pictures presents a mocumentary where 4 young girls are put through their paces by ICA stallworts at An Ghriannan in Termonfeckin.  Finding out that the fresh chicken they are asked to cook for dinner is not only still warm but needs to be plucked first, causes difficulty for the young 20-somethings who are not even sure how to turn on an oven.  They are introduced to dressmaking and millinary, and help to make a friendly black pudding before struggling with the instructions on a flatpack.  One of the girls decides to become a vegetarian rather than kill the little piggy, and another will not be wearing a dry-clean only silk blouse in the kitchen again.  Welly boots were invented for a reason!  Directed by Sarah Barron, written by Marion Cullen, and narrated by Rose Henderson.

Ruby Tuesday in Leuven Institute, Belgium

For the first time, Culture Night has been extended to include cultural events not only in every county in Ireland but this year, both the Irish Arts Centre New York and the Irish College in Leuven Belgium are offering free events to mark our rich Irish Heritage.  Friday 24 September at 8pm Niall de Burca will entertain with his richly woven storytelling skills, and this will be followed by a performance of the One Act play Ruby Tuesday by Rose Henderson with Helen Norton.  The evening will conclude with a ceili and seisiun.

When the Au Pair Comes to Stay

Rose voices this 4-part documentary for RTE on the experience of having an au pair in your home.  Directed by Traolach O Buachalla and Produced by Niamh Maher, Animo Television.

Belonging to Laura

TV3 drama based on Lady Windermere’s Fan written by Iseult Golden and David Horan, directed by Karl Golden and filmed on location in Eniskerry.  It is the day before Laura’s wedding and she discovers her finacee has slept with another woman.  Rose plays Rosaleen, the mother of the groom, and has some words of wisdom for the girl she hopes will be her daughter in law.  Screened on TV3 Christmas 09.  Nominated for an IFTA Award.

Project Brand New

Project Brand New is about innovation, experimentation, and work that strives toward the new. It is a programme which supports artists making work outside of traditional theatre models. From opera to performance art, from the wild and the whacky, and the frankly indefinable, we are being given an opportunity to try out that idea, test that work-in-progress, and show the fruits of that collaboration. “Aunt” film short

“AUNT”   film short

Directed by Narayan VanMaele and Produced by David Lester

This was an IADT (National Film School) graduation short, based on a true story, set in the 70’s and shot on location on Achill Island.  I played the part of Margaret, grandmother of a baby who’s been born out of wedlock.  This is the baby’s christening day, and in the midst of a seemingly happy family is Kate (played by Una Kirwan) the Aunt who is devastated to be handing the baby back to its mother (Louise Lewis).  

Aunt has won the Royal Television Award (Ireland), has been shortlisted for the Celtic Media Festival Awards, and is an “official selection” of the International Film Festival Indie Lisboain Portugal in April.
